Starting with v21.2, Liquid Studio can now be licenses under a new 12 month Subscription License Model.
The Subscription provides free upgrades and priority support via our Ticket System for the duration of the subscription and is ideal for short term projects as the total cost of ownership of Perpetual and Subscription licenses is approximately equivalent after 2 years.
Information about license usage can be found in the Licensing and Support FAQ.
License Models
Our product licenses are based on several models depending on your expected usage:
- Installed User License
The software can be installed and activated on a single computer for each Installed License purchased and only used by a single user.
You may also activate the product in two places of work, e.g. Office and Home, provided the software will only be used by a single user. - Concurrent User License
The software can be installed on up to 10 computers for each Concurrent User License purchased, provided that the number of users using the software at any one time is never more than the number of Concurrent User Licenses purchased.
The Concurrent License is specifically useful for a development team utilising the generated source code from Liquid XML Data Binder, Liquid XML Objects, or Liquid Data Mapper. - Virtual User License
The software can be installed on Non-Persistent Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) – Citrix / VMWare / Windows Remote Desktop Services.
The Virtual licenses are floating licenses so any VM with the license file on the domain can use the product as per the concurrent style license. As such the minimum number of licenses is 10 and they cost 50% more than the regular installed license. - Installed Single Domain Site License
The software can be installed and activated on up to 200 computers at a specified office location, usually this is a single postal address.
Perpetual or Subscription
Each license type can be Perpetual or Subscription based:
- Perpetual Licenses
Perpetual licenses never expire, and include a 1 year Upgrade Support Protection Plan (USPP) from the date of purchase.
USPP provides free upgrades and priority support via our Ticket System for the duration of the plan.
Extending your USPP enables you to lower the total cost of ownership of our products over time by providing free upgrades and priority support via our Ticket System for the duration of the plan.
You may optionally purchase an Upgrade Support Protection Plan (USPP) extension charged at 20% per annum (or 17% for 3+ years).
If your USPP lapses, product upgrades are then charged at 75% of the purchase price. We therefore highly recommend renewing USPP within 30 days of your annual renewal date. - Subscription Licenses
Subscription licenses expire at the end of the subscription period, after which a new subscription needs to be purchased to continue to use the product.
The Subscription provides free upgrades and priority support via our Ticket System for the duration of the subscription.
All generated application code (e.g. Liquid XML Data Binder, Liquid XML Objects, Liquid Data Mapper) will also stop working on the expiry date of the subscription and will need to be regenerated and redistributed.
We therefore DO NOT recommend Subscription licenses are used if you intend to distribute generated libraries as part of your application, instead a Persistent license which will never expire should be used.
